Grand Hotel Dino
The Grand Hotel Dino – Baveno skilfully combines the advantages of a large hotel with the elegance and tranquillity of lakeside living. An eclectic and versatile structure, combining a state-of-the-art conference centre with high-profile wellness and relaxation areas, is set against an enchanting natural backdrop of centuries-old gardens and the panorama of the Borromean Islands.
The latest endeavours and creations conceived by architect Claudio Maria Fimiani D’Aragona have resulted in the renovation of the conference centre at the Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno. The ‘sine qua non’ condition of the property was to recover an old counter, columns, armchairs and the existing sofas. Along the corridor, the old armchairs and sofas stand out, restored in a more contemporary and eclectic style to match the new location.
With great skill, silver leaf has been applied to the shaped wood by expert hands, before covering them with brightly coloured velvets.
In the large conference halls, the walls were covered in faux leather using a specific system of cloth tensioning and clean finishing baguettes.
The same material has been glued on both sides of the Estfeller doors to make them as uniform as possible with the walls. Velvet curtains with black-out lining, on occasion, completely black out the rooms and, in contrast, frame the large windows where the slatted packet curtains that filter the sun’s rays are hung.
All doors, screens and reading podiums have also been covered with the same material as the walls.
All materials are fireproof in accordance with the law.
In addition to armchairs and sofas, columns, coffee tables and an antique counter were also restored, again with silver leaf application.
